Bacterial Crown Rot of Lisianthus (Eustoma grandiflorum)

Bacterial Crown Rot Burkholderia gladioli formerly known as Pseudomonas gladioli has been identified on Lisianthus. Causing wilt, rot of the tap root, stem and the crown…. leaves display a tan veinal necrosis and eventual death of plant.
This is the first report of a bacterial pathogen of Lisianthus.

Identified by;- T.E. Seijo, R.J. Mc Govern, E.R. Dickstein and B.K. Harbaugh Of University of Florida – IFAS

This plant, pathogen has been detected in South Africa recently and has been added to the Avonrod spray program for Lisianthus.
Trials are under-way to try and control the disease with the organism Streptomyces aureofaciens
